Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is where Mountain gorillas call home in
Uganda. You definitely need not miss looking into the humble eyes of
the gorillas during your visit to Uganda. Uganda is home to half of the
world’s population of Mountain gorillas. It is indeed a great
experience to visit these enormously powerful and gentle creatures in
their spectacular natural habitat. The different gorilla families have
been habituated to human contact. There are basically 4 habituated gorilla families : Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura and Nkuringo.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. En route we shall stop at the equator which divides the earth into the Northern and southern hemisphere. We shall have lunch in Mbarara and thereafter proceed with our journey to the park.
Dinner and overnight at:
Gorilla Resort (high end) or equivalent
Buhoma Homestead (mid-range) or equivalent
Buhoma community rest camp (Budget) or equivalent
Day 2: Gorilla trek
After early morning breakfast, we shall have a briefing by the park rangers about gorilla tracking rules prior to our transfer to the impenetrable forest. We shall go with our packed lunch boxes. The rainforest is spectacular as it offers dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape. The time taken and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time with and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure.
On finding the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them and have a chance of taking some pictures. We shall later on proceed back to the camp.
Day 3: Return to Kampala:
Transfer back to Kampala we shall pass via Lake Bunyonyi one of the deepest lakes in Africa for lunch prior to our arrival.
On your way, make a stopover at Mpambire drum village, a chance to buy a locally made drum.
