Lake Mburo Tour Uganda

This is the only National Park in Uganda which hosts an entire Lake. It is 3-4 hours drive from Kampala.

Lake Mburo has an extensive area of wetland and harbors several species of mammals and birds. Its landscape comprises of open and wooded savanna but specifically acacia savanna because the dominant wood plants in the park are acacia trees. The park also comprises of dry hillsides, rocky utcrops, bushy thickets and acacia woodland with rolling grass hills whereas the lake shore has a variety of habitats which include forest galleries, seasonal and permanent swamps and acacia wooded valleys which all support a wealth of wildlife. Lake Mburo is the largest lake amongst the five lakes which exist in
the park.

 

ITINERARY

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo
Early morning transfer to Lake Mburo National park. En route stop at the equator which divides the earth into the Northern and southern hemisphere. We shall have lunch in Masaka town and thereafter proceed with our journey to the park in time for the late afternoon canoe trip where we shall see a variety of hippos in water and crocodiles basking in the sun on the lakeside.

Mihingo lodge (high-end)
Mantana tented camp (mid-range)
Rwonyo rest camp bandas (budget)

Day 2: Game Drive and return to Kampala
After breakfast set off for the early morning game drive. The park hosts more than 68 mammal species of which the impala, slender mongoose and bush rat are not found in any other park in Uganda. Other animals in the park include waterbucks, elands, impalas, klipspringers, buffaloes as well as the large population of zebras among others

After lunch, we Make a stopover at Mpambire drum village, a chance to buy a locally made drum and then proceed to Kampala.
