Lake Mburo National Park Uganda
LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
This is the closest National Park from Kampala and the only National Park in Uganda which hosts an entire Lake. This relatively small park (260 sq. kms) has an extensive area of wetland and harbors several species of mammals and birds. Its landscape comprises of open and wooded savanna but specifically acacia savanna because the dominant wood plants in the park are acacia trees. The park is dominated by tall grass savanna dotted with Acacia and Euphorbia . Lake Mburo is the largest lake amongst the five lakes which exist in
the park. Lake Mburo is the best place in the country to see the
gigantic Eland antelope, as well as zebra, topi,
impala, and several acacia-associated birds.

Tourism Activities:
Game Drives
There are various tracks used for game drives to access different animals;impala, Kazuma, Ruizi, Ruroko and Zebra tracks which connect Sanga gate and Nshara gate to Rwonyo rest camp are the most common treks for game viewing. The Zebras are often seen on the Zebra track while the Impalas are always seen on the Impala track which ends at Rwonyo rest camp.

Guided nature walks:
There is variety of floral species in Rubanga forest. This is a true forest with a closed canopy which offer a beautiful scenery.
Boat trips
There is an exciting 2 hour boat trip on Lake Mburo which offers the visitor a chance to view different bird species and an avenue for seeing hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, water buck. It is advisable for the visitor to carry binoculars inorder to view clearly.
Visit to the Parks Interpretation Centre
A visit to the parks interpretation centre will give you a good summary about the location, history and ecology of the park.
