Uganda Wildlife Education Centre - UWEC

In 1991 a master plan by the New York zoological society led to the transformation of the Entebbe Zoo into the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre Trust to promote and create an understanding of conserving the biodiversity in Uganda among the public, with specific emphasis on the young generation.

The centre is located at the edge of Lake Victoria 30 kms from Kampala city. The centre is a very exciting place to visit as it offers the visitor chance learn about different animals and their ways of living.

At the centre, visitors are able to observe many of the indigenous species to be found in Uganda and also to receive comprehensive information on the species, their natural habitats and the complex ecologies of Uganda. With the restructuring of wildlife management in the country in 1994, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre Trust (UWECT) was founded, in order to take over the zoo and to develop it with emphasis for Conservation Education.

There are a number of animals species available at UWEC such as; chimps, lion, Ostrich, to mention but afew. It is worth visiting with your family members since even the kids have a chance of closely glancing at these animals, studying their ways of living and how they relate with one another.
This attraction is easily accessible and would ideally be convenient to a client that has got very limited time to spend.
